Cali4nia was started by Brian and Nicole, a husband-and-wife team who immigrated from Cape Town, South Africa, and fell completely in love with California and the USA 🇺🇲.

As immigrants, they never take for granted the opportunity to live here. They remain incredibly grateful for the freedom, opportunities, phenomenal Southern California weather and outdoor lifestyle that America 🇺🇲 has given their family.

Cali4nia is their small family business and their slightly unconventional love letter to the place they now call home.

And what’s with the 4 in Cali4nia? It’s not a typo. It’s our little reminder that California is for everyone who appreciates sunshine, saltwater, adventure and a life lived outdoors. It also makes the name unmistakably ours—familiar enough to recognize, but different enough to start a conversation. After all, fitting in has never been very Cali4nian.

Nicole is an avid pickleball addict who will happily play until somebody turns off the court lights. Brian is a lifelong surfer who Charges Small Waves, enjoys The Single Life—meaning a single-fin longboard—and is currently being thoroughly humbled while learning to foil surf.

Together, they are proud members of the SaltWater Tribe, living on 100% Stoke and firmly believing that The West Coast is the Best Coast.

As avid travelers, Brian and Nicole regularly encounter people with complete misconceptions about California—usually formed from a distance and occasionally seasoned with a little envy. They enjoy setting the record straight.

Yes, California is expensive. Yes, the traffic can test even the most spiritually evolved human. And yes, the gas prices build character. But California is also sunshine, saltwater, mountain views, desert roads, tacos, sunsets, surf checks, pickleball games and spontaneous adventures that happen somewhere in between.

It isn’t simply a place. It’s a state of mind.

Cali4nia was created as a fun lifestyle apparel brand that starts conversations, challenges a few stereotypes and puts a smile on the face of anyone who sees it. The graphics celebrate the characters, humor and outdoor activities made possible by the phenomenal weather.

Some days we Pray for Surf. Other days we have Zero Waves Given.

We believe in remembering to Respect the Locals, and finding your people—even when most of them smell slightly like saltwater. We travel more, stress less, laugh often and always try to stay salty.

Brian and Nicole proudly wear Unapologetically Cali4nian, not because California is perfect, but because they genuinely appreciate its beauty, diversity, opportunity and wonderfully unusual way of life.

The brand is built for beach days, road trips, skateparks, surf breaks, backyard gatherings, mountain escapes and full days on the water. It’s for salty humans, eternal optimists and anyone fueled by sunshine and questionable financial decisions.

Nothing about Cali4nia is meant to be too serious. California already has enough serious people.

It’s simply about gratitude, good weather, outdoor adventures and enjoying the good life while we’re lucky enough to live it.
